Terrorists blast Mumbai crowds

MORE than 80 people are dead after terrorists used grenades and automatic weapons to attack crowds at hotels, a restaurant and train station in Mumbai, India.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra state said the situation was not yet contained as commando units attempted to wrest back control of two luxury hotels, where scores of westerners are believed to being held hostage.

Parts of Mumbai remained under siege, with police and gunmen exchanging gunfire at the Taj Mahal and Oberoi Trident hotels.

"The situation is still not under control and we are trying to flush out any more terrorists hiding inside the two hotels," said Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Gunfire and explosions were heard at the landmark Taj Mahal hotel and thick plumes of smoke rose from the building, witnesses said.

There were also explosions at the Oberoi hotel and firing at a hospital where gunmen were surrounded.

"The terrorists are throwing grenades at us from the rooftop of the Taj and trying to stop us from moving in," police Inspector Ashok Patil said.

Police said at least 250 people were wounded in the attacks, but some reports say up to 900 were hurt in the coordinated attacks, which also targeted a railway station, hospitals, the main railway station and airport.

Cafe Leopold, perhaps the most famous restaurant and hang-out for tourists in the city, also faced a series of blasts.

An organisation calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen said it was behind the attacks, television channels said. The previously little known group sent an email to news organisations claiming responsibility.

In Washington, the White House and US President-elect Barack Obama condemned the attacks, as did France, current president of the European Union, and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Early unconfirmed reports suggest the disaster has brought the financial capital's stock exchange to a standstill.

Teams of heavily-armed men launched coordinated attacks overnight that survivors said were aimed at killing Westerners.

Officials now say 86 people have been killed, and at least 120 wounded, with scores of Western hostages still being held.

A previously unknown group calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the attacks in emails to several media outlets.

running into conclusions

Just a few questions:
Why are Muslims being blamed again without any concrete evidence?
Why only the police officers that were investigating Hindu terrorism in India for past few weeks were one of the first ones to be killed?
Why Maharashtra was so open for alleged , “muslim terrorists”, when BJP has such a strong hold on the city of Mumbai that politicians like Raj Thackeray can butcher a birthday cake that had the word “Bhaiyya” (Bhaiyya is a word for Biharis in India) written on it publicly?
Why authorities or media are not looking into other possibilities?
Why are the terrorists keeping hostages and not identify themselves or start negotiations?
Why are the terrorists not killing themselves just as supposed Islamic terrorists have done in the past?
Why are Indian journalists talking about an “encounter” (term for killing suspects in police shoot out) instead of actually an attempt to “arrest” the perpetrators and investigate who they really are and what are their intentions?
For those who target Muslims without answering all the above mentioned questions kindly learn to speculate, investigate, analyze and than come to a conclusion.

this is not the time for discriminating hindu or muslim

This is not the time for posting these kind of stupid questions.
The persons who are killed /injured are hindus as well as muslims. This is the problem with your kind of people, this is the time for us to stand united against terrorism (which is not hindu or muslim).

Do you actually believe that police should do an attempt to “arrest” the perpetrators and investigate who they really are and what are their intentions? .....so that they can be freed by kidnaping somebody in near future and then get these guys released and again, to do these kind of massacare.....

they should be killed then and there.....i dont think even investigating is worth.....

dont link anybody with this.....even raj thackery is a terrorist (of different kind) .......he is not even worth talking about.....where is he right now...ask him to send his men to taj and oberoi hotel in thousands and keep danda on these guys.....where is he and his danda chaap men hinding now????

Why only the police officers that were investigating Hindu terrorism in India for past few weeks were one of the first ones to be killed?
>>Cause they were the best officers. They were unlucky to get killed.
Why authorities or media are not looking into other possibilities?
>>Who said authoraties are nto loooking into other possiblities? Did someone tell you ?
Why are the terrorists keeping hostages and not identify themselves or start negotiations?
>>Didnt they identify themselves already? Just seee BBC news.

It high time that we stop

It high time that we stop defending these terrorist and stop fighting in the name of religion and be biased of terrorist’s religious origin. I don’t such individual can belong to any religion. As a nation we should stand together and fight against them. And I don't think in the current situation arresting them is an option!!! The act that they have conducted is shameful and I feel sorry for all families who have lost their loved ones in this manner.

This tragic attack was the act of a bunch of cowards who are rotting in hell right now. I hope Mumbai has been able to get back on track after this attack. I was in India last month, but never made it to Mumbai. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost loved ones.
