The small car market gets hotter with Hyundai planning to manufacture its compact car i10 in India. i10 from Hyundai will cost Rs 3.39 lakh. Hyundai Brand Ambassador Shahrukh Khan was also present during premiere of Hyundai i10. Hyundai expects i10 to be as popular as its Santro and the car will compete with Maruti’s Wagon R, Zen Estilo, and Indica Xeta from Tata.
The 1.1 litre Hyundai i10 is driven by petrol engine. Hyundai expects to sell 1.5 lakh i10 cars in India next year. The company will also launch a diesel version of 1.1 litre engine next year. The new car will be available in Rs 3.39 lakh and Rs 4.90 lakh variants for Indian market.
Hyundai Motors India will manufacture the car in India and will export to other countries. Hyundai plans to use its India facility as a manufacturing hub and India will account for 30 percent of overseas production by year 2009.
Small car segment has seen a good amount of growth. Tata Motors has been very active with its small car project. M & M is also in talks with Renault for launching a small car.
Jae Kook Choi, HMC President said, “Hyundai Motor in India is poised to play an important role not only in India but also in HMC’s global plans and we hope that with India becoming a hub for small cars, we expect production in the country to account for 30 per cent of overseas production by 2009.”
The company will use its India based facility to export 1 lakh units of Hyundai Santro and Hyundai i10 during next year.

The i10 comes in 5 variants namely the dlite , Era , Magna , magna Optional and magna optional with sunroof. there may be a variant of Auto too.
the delite is the base version which comes with only AC and biege interior.
the Era is the middle variant which comes with AC , Power steering , Front power windows , body colored bumpers , central locking.
the Magna comes with all the features of era Plus rear power windows , Fog lamps , body colored Orvms and door handles wheel covers , rear defogger.
Magna Optional comes with all the features of Magna plus - ABS , Dual airbags , rear spoiler , alloy wheels.
The next is Magna optionl with sunroof.
The On Road price of DLITE variant will be almost around the price of Santro XL variant(on road )
The On road price of Era will be around the price of Santro XO ( on road )
THe on road price of MAGNA will be around the price of Getz GL variant ( on road).
the Magna Optional variants on road price will be around the price of Swift LDi ( onroad)
the Magna Optional with Sunroof will be around 10k rs cheaper than Swift ZXi ( on road)
I 10 nice car with good performance
i have driven swift lxi and hyundai I 10 but i felt hyundai I 10 is more spacious and comfortable to drive,and the gear ratio is too good of I 10 and torque too,I 10 has high end torque which makes city driving more exciting and comfortable,the beige interiors of I 10 are superb compared to that of swift which has black ugly look,and the interiors cant be compared with swift,leave that matter,becoz interiors are not that standard as I 10,and lastly the mileage,u cant compare a TANKER with I 10?????????I 10 gives a better figure of 16+ in city where as 18+ in highways,but u can expect 12+ from SWIFT,more ever SWIFT is high priced,any way those who want to put there hard earned money just go for I 10
