India is a multicultural country known for its diverse flavors. The most sought after food is Indian street food
, which leaves taste buds tingling even after the dish is finished. The spicy and tangy nature of the food can always leave you wanting more.

The food found on the streets can vary from place to place. There are food items ranging from chaats to pav bhaaji to dosas and jalebis. The five famous street dishes to look forward to are:

Vada Pav

In the western part of the country, Maharashtra, the most famous Indian street dish is Vada Pav. This mouth watering dish consists of a vegetable cutlet made of potatoes which is seasoned with various masalas and is deep fried. This is then sandwiched between two buns and served with chutney.

Dosas

There is a no part in the country that hasn’t heard of the famous south Indian specialty - the Dosa. It is shaped like a crepe, made of rice flour, and is served with either coconut or tomato chutney. This south Indian dish is also accompanied by a steaming hot curry called sambar.

There is also a special variety known as Masala Dosa which is a crepe stuffed with a mixture of mashed potatoes. This delicacy is served for breakfast and is the staple food in Tamil Nadu. Dosas can be had right on the streets as well as local dosas have their own distinct flavor.

Samosas

The samosa is the most famous Indian street food which can be found almost everywhere, but it varies from place to place. It is a deep fried pastry stuffed with a mixture of potatoes, peas and vegetables and served with pudhina or tangy tomato chutney. This is usually had as a snack with tea.

Paani Puri

Paani Puri can leave your mouth watering, with the tangy water from the puri streaming down the sides of your mouth. Indian food

consists of hollow and round balls of rice flour which are stuffed with a mixture of chickpeas and potato. This is then filled with sweet water followed by tangy spicy water and swallowed after a single bite.

Pav Bhaaji

Pav Bhaaji is a versatile dish and this makes it a sumptuous meal by itself. The pav is heated with cubes of butter and served with a spicy flavorsome dish that’s often a thick vegetable curry. This Indian Street food also has its roots in Maharashtra, and it first started out as food for mill workers.
