GOLDEN EDITION: The gold and diamond special edition of Kohl is valued at $10,000, but should sell for much more at a charity auction in October.
A golden and diamond-encrusted edition of the Middle East�s leading Asian women�s magazine will be auctioned for charity in October and is expected to fetch more than $10,000.

ITP Lifestyle, publisher of style magazine Kohl, joined forces with UAE-based jeweller Damas to create what is expected to become the world�s most expensive magazine.

The one-off magazine is covered in 91 grams of gold and encrusted with 622 diamonds. It will be auctioned to raise money for the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre.
The gilded front cover features Indian actress Katrina Kaif, star of recent Bollywood hits including Race.

�I am very proud and excited to be involved with this project. It is a wonderful idea and all for a very worthwhile cause,� Kaif said.

Damas craftsmen took more than 86 hours to hand-apply layers of gold leaf to a specially-treated edition of the original magazine.

The company's deputy managing director, Tamjid Abdullah said he welcomed the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Asian women in the Middle East, and to raise money for charity.

�The gold Kohl project not only recognises the importance of the Asian community, but we are also doing it to support a worthy cause. It is a great honour for Damas to create such a unique and prestigious piece, which signifies our commitment to the art of beauty relevant to society,� said Abdullah.
