THE H1B VISA PROCESS :-
to obtain an H1B visa, an applicant must
* 'first' find an H1B job with an H1B visa employer company in the USA; commonly known as your 'H1B sponsor'.
* Your H1B sponsor then applies for / files your H1B visa application. Individuals can NOT sponsor or apply for their own H1B visa - ONLY your new employer (sponsor) can.

Dear Moderator,
I am writing to inquire if you have an idea about issuing of H1B sponsorships from the company. I am applying in an IT company located in New Jersey, they ask me to pay 5,000 USD just to issue me H1B, they told me that the amount will be used to process my papers in INS-USCIS, (but as far as I know, if I am not mistaken, INS-USCIS only if I have to process my citizenship and naturalization in the US), but I only need H1-temporary working status, just wandering, is this the way the company may issue an offer of H1B or employment? Why have to pay? 5k USD is 5k USD, that is a big amount already closes to half a million in a country like Philippines.
And they told me to travel to US while processing my dox, and they offer their company's guest room for my accomodation and I might be rejected for the H1B according to Lottery system

never pay money for h1b
Hi Eric,
You never should pay money to get your H1b paper work done by any potential employer in the USA. It is against the law for the employer to ask the employee(you) to pay for your visa fees when applying for a h1b visa. Green card has different rules, but you don't have to shell a penny to any company operating from New Jersey or anywhere for that matter. It smells trouble and there are quite a few of those consultancy companies here who threaten new employees.
Hope this helps, and i know cos I work for a company in the us under h1b visa, but have met some people who had their official papers confiscated by such bully-employees.

Re H1b Visa to Greencard
Hi...
This is to inquire re H1B Visa wanting to change or upgrade to Green card. At present i am working here in US with H1B Visa for about a year now and i am wondering if is there any way that i could upgrade it or change to Permanent Resident Visa or Green Card? Some of my friends said that it is possible but the problem is i dont really know where to start.
Any help or guidance that will be extended will be highly appreciated.

I have a Greek Passport with a Tourist visa for the usa. I also had in the past, twice, J-1 Visa's to work in the hotel industry. I am hired by a company in the US But I only got a 10 year multiple entry B1/B2 Visa.
The company doesn't know hoe to sponsor a working visa for me, what agency or government branch or office do they need to approach for inquiries regarding how to process an H1B visa.

By the look of things there are a lot of people here with some complex visa questions. May I suggest looking into using a visa consultancy - such as Global Visas. It costs a little extra, but no where near the ridiculous $5000 someone above was asked to pay. Good luck.
