How to stay happy in the office

Don't Worry

When you're preoccupied with personal issues, it's difficult to concentrate or be happy at work. By all means, make sure you have your kids covered in the event of an emergency, but realize that nobody's personal life is ever going to be completely problem-free. Just as you need to let go of work to enjoy your time at home, it's important to leave personal worries at home so you can focus and be productive at work.

Create an Office Nest

You are at your job for at least eight hours a day, which is more time than you probably spend in your bed. Make your space your own, decorate your area as much as your company policy permits, and make yourself as comfortable and relaxed as you can be in your office.
Develop an Office Support System
Gathering a circle of colleagues who share similar backgrounds or lifestyles can take a lot of pressure off you at work. When you are able to voice your feelings to people who understand, it can really help minimize stress.

Stepping stones to success Treat every failure as a lesson rather than a stumbling block

Failure is one of the toughest things to deal with and happens so frequently in life, on various levels, that learning to deal with it canaid how we approach all types of endeavour. No one likes experiencing failure, but every attempted goal includes the possibility of failure as well as that of success. To grow we must keep reaching out for these new experiences. Failure feels so bad because it directly affects our ego and sense of identity in relation to the world around us. Failure can make us feel ineffective, inadequate and isolated. But this stage of failure is only temporary and will pass.

Try to take advantage of a failure by analysing what you could have done differently and rest assured that you will never suffer the same failure again. If a failure was something unavoidable or beyond your control, perhaps you can attempt the project again with other collaborators. In either case, understanding our failures is a key component in dealing with them and being able to move on to new goals and projects.

Keep Smiling

A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school

As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with thunder and lightning. The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school and she herself feared that the electrical storm might harm her child. Following the roar of thunder, lightning, like a flaming word, would cut through the sky.

3 STEPS YOU CAN USE DEVELOPING LEADERS IN YOUR INDUSTRY

With the economy bordering on a recession, every company is looking for ways to increase revenues while decreasing costs. Some companies believe one of the easiest ways to do this is to cut their employee training budget. However, businesses interested in long-term viability recognize that to be successful they must continually develop their people, especially their leaders.

The Result of Intiative

Some years ago, three brothers left the farm to work in the city. They were all hired by the same company at the same pay. Three years later, Jim was being paid $500 a month, Frank was receiving $1,000, but George was now making $1,500.

Their father decided to visit the employer. He listened to the confused father and said, " I will let the boys explain for themselves."

Management

Once at workshop, a time management expert stood in front of the group he was presenting to and said, "Okay, time for a quiz."

He pulled out a one-gallon, wide mouthed mason jar and set it on a table in front of him. Then he produced a dozen large rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?" Everyone in the group answered, "Yes."

Always let your boss have the first say

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out.

The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Puff! She's gone.

To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?"

The eagle answered: "Sure , why not."

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story

Career vs money -- which is better?

Arti's son Rohan has got a diploma in hotel management from a premier institute. As a hotel management trainee, he was offered a starting salary of Rs 6,000 per month.
He turned down the offer and joined a call centre which offered him Rs 8,000 per month.

What happens when, as in Rohan's case, money -- in fact immediate money -- is the only basis of comparison? Is it wrong to be motivated by money?
