Stress Relief Tips for Reducing Stress and Anxiety

Dr.Charles Mar 28, 2011

Stress has become part of our life. Each one of us faces stress problem from time to time. When stress gets to be too much, it can give bad effects on our health. That’s why effective stress relievers are essential. Stress appears initially as mental, emotional, or physical resistance. Here are few easy tips for stress relief:

Four Tips for Reducing Stress

  1. Laugh. When you laugh, you actually cause a pleasurable change in your body’s chemistry that lasts as long as 45 minutes. So take in a comedy at the movies, watch a funny television show, or invite friends over for a game of charades.
  2. Pets. Physical contact with pets or even just their presence has been proved to be therapeutic for hospital patients. Play with your dog, hold your cat, or sing to your bird: all of these activities can help reduce blood pressure and bring a feeling of calm.
  3. Nature. The soothing, stress-relieving power of nature has been recognized for centuries. Many hospitals and health centers now make “nature areas” a part of their therapeutic environment. And when properly tailored to the individual’s conditioning and enjoyment, physical exercise can help reduce stress and anxiety. Take a walk outside!
  4. Music. Music’s calming effect has been proved during dental procedures, during labor, before and after surgery, and in emergency rooms. This effect is probably due to music’s ability to distract and soothe.

Stress Relief Tips to get rid of Stress and Anxiety

Dr.Mike Mar 10, 2011

Stress is a feeling that's created when we react to particular events. It's the body's way of rising to a challenge and preparing to meet a tough situation with focus, strength, stamina, and heightened alertness.

The events that provoke stress are called stressors, and they cover a whole range of situations — everything from outright physical danger to making a class presentation or taking a semester's worth of your toughest subject.

Stress Relief Tips
1. Blow it off. Since breathing comes naturally, deep breathing is often overlooked as an exercise, but it’s an excellent stress reducer. Breathe in while tucking in your tummy and feel the air as it expands your lungs and your chest. Breathe in to the count of four and hold it for two counts. Then exhale to the count of four. Take two to four deep breathes several times a day and soon daily stressors may well be “gone with the wind!”

Stress Relief Exercise for Stress Reduction and anxiety Disorder

Dr.Charles Mar 4, 2011

Stress relief exercise does not necessarily take long to do, but around 30 minutes of exercise is necessary to elevate the heart beat and thus circulate your blood better throughout inside your body.

The secret of why exercise can help relieve stress is that because exercise would release certain adrenal hormones and endorphins.

These are your body’s natural “feel good” chemicals, if sufficiently present in your body, they would make you feel good. So, doing a regular routine of stress relief exercise will help you in many ways.

However, one of the biggest handicaps of many people in doing exercise is laziness and boredom. These factors make people difficult to get started or just give up the exercise program in the middle.

Therefore, do choose kind of stress relief exercise which could bring you fun, pick up the one you like best but at the same time it works best for your stress management.

Stress is a state of physical, mental or emotional strain that occurs in response to real or perceived events which occur in our everyday lives. It is the way our bodies respond and adjust to a continually changing environment. Stress can be positive or negative. In a positive sense, stress can force us into action; it can induce feelings of excitement and new levels of awareness.

In negative sense, it can bring on a range of adverse effects such as anger, depression and extreme anxiety. This can in turn lead to physical problems such as headaches, skin rashes, ulcers, high blood pressure and in extreme case heart disease and stroke.

What Causes Stress
Stressors are the causes of stress; they are events in our lives that threaten or challenge us and can be external or occur in our minds. Stressors come normally in one of three forms: daily hassles, major life events, and catastrophes, and can occur within many domains of life such as family, work and school. Examples of such stressors include upcoming project deadlines, getting married or the death of a loved one.

Natural Stress Relief Tips and Techniques for Hypertension Relief

Stress can act as a motivator or energizer. Too much of bad stress can cause medical and social problems. Because the body responds to stress physically, bad stress causes the “fight or flight” reaction. The body changes, prepares to either confront the challenge or flee from it.

Stress releases adrenaline (the stress hormone), heart rate increases, breathing quickens and blood pressures rises. The liver increases output of sugar and blood flow is diverted to the brain and large muscles. Symptoms of stress include, feeling anxious, feeling scared, irritable or moody. Stress affects thoughts.

Thoughts of low self-esteem, fear of failure, inability to concentrate, worrying about the future, preoccupation with thoughts/tasks and forgetfulness can be present. Stress affects behavior. It can cause stuttering and other speech difficulties, bouts of crying for no apparent reason, laughing in a high pitch or nervous tone of voice, increased accident prone behavior, overeating, under eating and increased use of drugs and alcohol.

Yoga for Stress Relief and Anxiety Disorder

Dr.Steve Jan 13, 2011

Yogis believe that through the practice of basic yoga poses, you will become aware of the stress in your body and you will be able to release it. Yoga poses will show you the effects that stress has imprinted into your body - the tight neck and back, the achy shoulders or inflexible hamstrings. The same poses will also give you an opportunity to work out the tension out of these tense and sore muscles.

The following simple yoga sequence is ideal for you to practice in the evenings to help you unwind from the stresses of your day. As with all exercises, please consult your doctor if you have any medical conditions and show respect and patience with your body.

1. The Child Pose. A classic yoga pose which gently stretches the whole spine and calms and soothes your mind. Kneel on the floor with your knees together and sit back on your heels. Stretch your trunk forward over your thighs and rest your forehead on the floor. Place your arms back beside your body with your palms facing up so your hands are resting by your feet. If this feels uncomfortable, spread your knees apart and rest a small cushion between your thighs and then sit on your heels and stretch your trunk forward as before. Breathe slowly and deeply for at least 2 - 3 minutes.

Stress is a fact of life, but being stressed out is not. We don't always have control over what happens to us, says Allen Elkin, Ph.D., director of the Stress Management Counseling Center in New York City, and yet, that doesn't mean we have to react to a difficult, challenging situation by becoming frazzled or feeling overwhelmed or distraught.

Being overly anxious is not just a mental hazard; it's a physical one too. The more stressed out we are the more vulnerable we are to colds, flu, and a host of chronic or life-threatening illnesses. And the less open we are to the beauty and pleasure of life.

Here are nine tips to help you manage your stress.

Know what stresses you most. Not your co-worker, friend, husband, or wife. YOU!! Get your feelings out. Write them out and describe each situation. Share all bad feelings with a friend or in a journal. Before you can conquer your stresses you must know what is stressing you.
