A cataract is a cloud of the lens in the eye. As people age, cataracts grow progressively darker and more dense, preventing light from easily passing through the lens. This results in vision loss.
Patients with cataracts have difficulty considering in poorly lit environments. Many people also experience increased sympathy to light and glare, double vision (or "ghost images"), and fading colors (blue may appear green; white may come into sight dull beige, etc.).
A cataract is a cloud that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its envelope, varying in degree from slight to inclusive opacity and obstructs the passage of light.
Early in the development of age-related cataract the power of the lens may be increased, causing near-sightedness (myopia), and the gradual yellowing and opacification of the lens may reduce the perception of blue colours.
