Version Control System

by Ruchi Gupta

When I started my job with a startup company I was the 3rd employee in that company. We were working on an idea to make the Internet faster and reliable.

As my company didn’t get millions of dollar in Venture Capitalist (VC) funding, so we were having limited resources for the development. Life was easier and enjoyable between all three of us and we worked hard to make the first demo of the concept. With the help of this demo my company managed to get good funding from VCs and a time line to come up with the first beta release of the product.

DomainKeys and Domain Keys Identified Email (DKIM)

Quite simply DomainKeys is the future of email. We think that it won’t be long until email servers start to disregard all email that is not signed with DomainKeys. The technology allows one email server to verify that an email has actually come from the server that it claims to have come from.

Exim Sender Verify Callout or Callback Could Not Complete or Verification Failed Error

Sunny Dec 7, 2007

If you’re running web host or email server using Exim or Sendmail as mail transfer agent (MTA), and found that emails or mail messages sent to you, your clients or users may occasionally lost or never arrived to the mailboxes, your mail server may fall victim to the mess of sender verification. It’s the most likely cause of missing emails if you have verified that the email does not catch by spam filters or junk mail controls, and the mail server domain and IP address is not under any RBL (Real-Time Black Lists) block.

pavan Oct 18, 2007

To remove a directory that you own, use the rmdir command. For example, to remove a subdirectory named mydir that exists in your current working directory, at the Unix prompt, enter: rmdir mydir

If mydir exists, and is an empty directory, it will be removed. If the directory is not empty or you do not have permission to delete it, you will see an error message.

Microsoft Office Alternatives

Shilpa Oct 6, 2007

For most everyone working in the U.S. corporate world, Microsoft Office is a must: Outlook for e-mail/calendar; Word for word processing; Excel for spreadsheets; and PowerPoint for presentations. The 2007 release has been covered extensively on CNET Reviews.

However, a recent rise in free office suites has given end users much more choice in productivity software than they've had in many years. Just two weeks ago, IBM announced a free version of Lotus Symphony. Though it's still in beta release, the freeware includes serviceable word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation software, all of which support Microsoft Office file formats.

FLOSS Gives India a Boost in Many Markets and Endeavors

pavan Oct 3, 2007

A recent conference in India offered examples of how FLOSS affects everything from education and health services to internal software markets.

From banks and hospitals to software houses and prestigious technological institutions, the charm of free/libre and open-source software (FLOSS) is casting a spell in India that is pushing many here to venture into uncharted fields.

Stories of unanticipated efficiency, innovative solutions and slashed costs surfaced at a two-day seminar titled "Enterprise GNU/Linux Implementation: Evaluating Non-Proprietary Software for the Enterprise", held in mid-June in India's commercial capital of Mumbai (formerly Bombay). The seminar was presented by global business information company MarcusEvans.
