Letter to Uddhav Thackeray by RajDeep Sardesai

At the very outset, my compliments for the manner in which you've literally 'stolen' the headlines from your cousin Raj in the last fortnight. After the Assembly election defeat last October, there were many who had written you off as a weak, namby-pamby politician, who would be better off doing photography. But now, it seems that the 'fire' which burns inside Bal Thackeray is alive in the son too. After years of struggling to establish yourself, you have finally discovered the mantra for success as a Shiv Sena leader: find an 'enemy', threaten and intimidate them, commit the odd violent act, and, eureka!, you are anointed the true heir to the original 'T' company supremo.

Your cousin has chosen to bash faceless taxi drivers and students from North India, soft targets who are totally unprotected. You've been much braver. You've actually chosen to target national icons: Sachin Tendulkar, Mukesh Ambani, Shah Rukh Khan, powerful figures who most Indians venerate. Shah Rukh is no surprise since the Sena has always been uncomfortable with the Indian Muslim identity.

Did Miss India Pooja Chopra refuse a film?

Contrary to reports that Miss India Earth 2009, Pooja Chopra, will star opposite Jackie Bhagnani in his father Vashu Bhagnani's film Faltu, the truth is that Pooja is not doing the film.Talking to reporters yesterday, Pooja said that she was grossly upset with Vashu for leaking it to the press that she was doing the film before she had signed it.

Pooja said that Vashu offered her Faltu before she embarked for the Miss India contest. The next thing she knows is that there were reports saying that she's doing his film. Her agency got into action and did some damage control.

She's not supposed to sign any film till she crowns her successor, which will happen in April 2010. But she's definitely not going to sign Faltu even now because this whole incident has left her with a very sour taste.

"But honestly I am so used to not winning that just the nomination is enough," she said.

Deepika Padukone rubbishes rumors

Deepika Padukone's on-off relationship continues to make news. The duo looked great in Bachna Ae Haseeno, but weren't paired thereafter. Reportedly, with their personal equations undergoing a change, the actors have decided against working together.

"Completely untrue. I would love to work with Ranbir. And Ranbir is a professional too. These are mere rumours and shouldn't be entertained."

So why haven't the duo signed any film together?

"Ranbir and I have decided that till such time we aren't offered a script that inspires us, we won't work together. I am keen to work with him. So is he. We looked great in Bachna Ae Haseeno," Deepika said.

Indians in Australia asks "Sena" to "shut up"

The Shiv Sena threat to Australian players taking part in IPL season-3 is causing ripples Down Under, with the Indian community there apprehensive of a backlash if the Sena did not soften its stand. Indians, especially students, in Australia, are vehemently protesting the move.

The Federation of Indian Students of Australia (FISA) has expressed solidarity with Australian players and has called for building up international pressure on India to ensure the safety of the players. The association is now planning to write to Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, asking him to desist from taking on Australian players, thinking of the safety of Indians in Australia.

Why India wants to talk Pakistan?

India has offered to hold official-level talks with Pakistan, signalling a return to bilateral dialogue suspended after the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

New Delhi blames the attacks, which killed 166 people, on Pakistan-based terorists and wants Islamabad to act against them. The talks will be held at the level of the top diplomats of the two countries.

Its a tough and a gambled call from Indian government, the same Pakistan which thinks that evidences given is mere information for 26/11,Nothing much can be expected. Two very important points needs to be considered :-

a) From last one year when Pakistan faced terrorism from Talibani's then they realised that they want peace with India and Pakistan was tryng to put an impression that they were always ready for talks and India is not willing to do that. What about last 20 years of Indian battle against Terrorism ?

Terrorist Meet in Pakistan occupied Kashmir on Jihad

The announcement that India has proposed talks with Pakistan ironically came on a day that saw a massive show of strength by proscribed terror groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat-ud-Dawa, in Muzaffarabad to galvanize the ``freedom movement'' in Jammu and Kashmir.

If there was any enthusiasm over US director of national intelligence Dennis Blair's statement before the Senate that Pakistan looked upon these groups as strategic assets against India, it was quickly wiped off by the terror rally which was addressed by terrorists wanted in India.
