With Sundance Film Festival critics raving about Peepli Live, Rapid Eye Pictures, a German distribution company has already agreed to release it in German theatres in the latter half of this year. Rapid Eye has also acquired the Home Video and Television rights. Peepli Live is co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions and is the debut directorial venture of Anusha Rizvi.

Stephan Holl, founder, Rapid Eye Pictures claimed to be "thrilled" about distributing a "true Indian art house film that entertains whilst telling a serious story."

Peepli Live is a satire on farmer suicides and uses the tragedy to depict the true colours of Indian society with humour. It is the first Indian film ever to be selected at the Sundance Film Festival (World Cinema Dramatic competition) and was also screened out of competition at the Berlin Film Festival.
