There is no specific treatment or "cure" for Asperger's Disorder. All the interventions are mainly symptomatic and/or rehabilitational.</p>
<p>The onset of diagnosis of AS is recognized later than what is typical in autism. Most are diagnosed around the ages of 5 and 9. Some of the symptoms of AS are hard to distinguish from other behavioral troubles, so the best idea is to have a doctor or health professional evaluate the symptoms.</p>
<p>Parents of children with Aspergers disorder are no longer left to ponder 'what is aspergers' insofar as it is now classified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (text revised) as being a developmental disorder of childhood.</p>
<p>There are also programs at most schools that provide help for children with Aspergers syndrome. There are many educational programs to give some support for the children that are in the ages of three to twenty one.</p>
<p>Children with aspergers have an impressive vocabulary with the exception of course of social skills lacking. Being obsessively interested in a single particular object or subject is yet another defining characteristic of aspergers syndrome symptoms. A person does not catch it or recover from it, however, the effects often lessen as people get older and learn coping skills. It is present from birth but it usually takes a long time for people to be convinced that the unusual behaviour and difficulties of a child fit the pattern of Asperger syndrome.</p>
<p>Treatment plans are structured according to the severity of the Asperger's symptoms and on the individual. The treatments involve therapists who specialize in motor skill development and sensory development. Social skills can also be improved through play and music therapy. Often children with aspergers syndrome can be animated in their discussion but demonstrate a lineal focus on topics of interest to them, almost to the point that their communication seems eccentric, or at times inappropriate.</p>
<p>As every case of Asperger's is different because of every kid being different, one set of Asperger's symptoms is not present in every kid. Asperger's symptoms normally present themselves when the child is quite young at approximately 3 to 4 years of age. Studies are on the way to discover the best treatment for Asperger's syndrome, which includes the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify the abnormalities in the brain which causes malfunction of the same, which in turn result in Asperger's syndrome.</p>
