The spinal column consists of an intricate network of nerves, bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons. Inflammation or straining of any of these parts may lead to backache. Here follows some of the major causes of backache -
Lumber muscle strain causes low backache. The patient may even forget what it was that had caused the strain or spasm, but the good part of the story is that pain from lumber muscle strain subsides within a few weeks.

I have been told that a good remedy for back pain is a good hot bath. That is true as long as you remember the Epsom salt. Epsom salt is a Herbal Medicine for back pain that increases circulation and reduces swelling for arthritis. What you do is draw a bath as warm as you can stand it, add 2 cups of Epsom salt and bathe for about 30 minutes adding hot water occasionally to keep the bath warm.
Another herbal remedy for back pain is ginger. Ginger is utilized in folk medicine to treat many types of pain. Ginger has around 12 different anti-inflammatory compounds. The way you use ginger is to get a piece of ginger that is around an inch or so. Slice it thinly slices and put it into some water and bring to a boil. Simmer this for around 30 minutes, on extremely low heat. Drink this mixture after its been strained and you can add some honey, if needed.
