<p>There are many different treatment regimens for epilepsy, each of which is prescribed according to the condition of the patient and the specific symptoms being experienced by them.</p>
<p><strong>Causes</strong></p>
<p>Sometimes a seizure is related to a temporary condition, such as exposure to drugs, withdrawal from certain drugs, a high fever, or abnormal levels of sodium or glucose in the blood. If the seizure or seizures do not happen again once the underlying problem is corrected, the person does NOT have epilepsy.</p>
<p>In other cases, permanent injury to or changes in brain tissue cause the brain to be abnormally excitable. In these cases, the seizures happen without an immediate cause. This is epilepsy. Epilepsy can affect people of any age.</p>
<p>Epilepsy may be idiopathic, which means the cause cannot be identified. These seizures usually begin between ages 5 and 20, but they can happen at any age. People with this condition have no other neurological problems, but sometimes have a family history of seizures or epilepsy.</p>
<p><strong>Symptoms</strong></p>
<p>The severity of symptoms can vary greatly, from simple staring spells to loss of consciousness and violent convulsions. For most people with epilepsy, each seizure is similar to previous ones. The type of seizure a person has depends on a variety of things, such as the part of the brain affected and the underlying cause of the seizure. An aura consisting of a strange sensation (such as tingling, smelling an odor that isn't actually there, or emotional changes) occurs in some people prior to each seizure.</p>
<p>Natural, Herbal Home Remedies of Epilepsy</p>
<p>Tulsi Juice - Rub tulsi juice over your body everyday after taking bath.</p>
<p>Vegetable Juices - Certain vegetable juices, especially carrot juice, in combination with juices of beets and cucumber, have also been found valuable in curing diseases like epilepsy. You may also take following combination of juices - 300 ml of carrot juice, 100 ml each of beet and cucumber juices to prepare 500 ml or half a liter of mixed juice to be taken daily.</p>
<p>Tulsi Flowers - Keep the blossoms of tulsi inside the fold of your hanky every time. At the time of attack smell the blossom deeply.</p>
<p>Grape Juice - Fruits like apples, figs, and grapes are also good in curing epilepsy fast and effectively. The juice of grapes has, however, been found to be comparatively more effective for this disease. The patient should take about 500 ml of the juice of fresh grapes thrice a day for three months. It will provide immense relief and help in the cure of the disease.</p>
<p>Tulsi Leaves - If the attack makes one unconscious, grind 11 leaves of tulsi, add a little salt to it and put a few drops of this juice in the patient's nostrils. He would immediately regain his consciousness. Keep a tulsi plant in your verandah or somewhere near your bedroom.</p>
<p>Vitamin B6 - Vitamin B6 or pyridoxine is another valuable treatment for curing epilepsy fast and effectively. This vitamin is involved in critical functions of the nervous system. Some of the food sources rich in vitamin B6 are - rice, milk, brewer's yeast, cereals, legumes, green leafy vegetables, carrots, and peanuts. If taken in supplement form, vitamin B6 should be taken in therapeutic dose of 100-150 mg daily, along with other B complex vitamins.</p>
