Dandruff is a widely popular problem of the hair and can be a source of considerable damage to one's hair. This is why it is important to take the possible measures necessary for getting rid of dandruff. If you want to control your dandruff problem, there are many ways of doing so. You can control your dandruff naturally or can also use other treatments for your dandruff.
Home Remedies for Dandruff
Thoroughly wash your hair with a mild, pH-balanced shampoo. There's no need to use a dandruff shampoo as the apple cider vinegar will gradually get rid of the dandruff problem.
If possible always try to use raw undiluted apple cider vinegar as this will give the best results when getting rid of dandruff. Lemon juice can also be used instead of vinegar.
Mix together a tablespoon of witch hazel with a few drops of your favorite essential oil (like lavender essential oil for example). Starting at the part in your hair, gently massage the mixture of witch hazel and essential oil into your scalp. Work your way down the part towards the base of your head and then outwards.
Massage the oils into your scalp for at least 5 to 10 minutes. This massage is extremely relaxing, so as a special treat, you can have your significant other or loved one do this to you (even if you do not have dandruff!).
Pour or spray the mixture directly onto your scalp. Massage it in and leave to dry on your hair. There's no need to rinse it out (unless the smell bothers you).
In cases of more stubborn dandruff, make the mixture stronger; try a one-to-one ratio of vinegar to water. Applying undiluted vinegar directly to the scalp can also do the trick. Leave it on for around 15 minutes and then wash the vinegar out using a mild, pH-balanced shampoo.
Food for Dandruff
Greens are probably the most important to the health of your skin and scalp and not only will it put your body in a more alkaline state it will increase your water consumption which will also help your dandruff.
Modern diets are filled with refined sugars and white flour and fatty foods and its these types of foods that put our bodies out of balance and actually promote the growth of dandruff. By growing our green vegetable eating we can switch our bodies from a acidic state to a extra alkaline for much fit moisturized skin.
Getting enough greens is not easy and I usually make up for this with a shot of wheat grass or barley grass. Get it added to your fruit juice's its quite delicious.
Protein Rich Food
Protein is essential for proper body function, hair growth and healing so its important to maintain a high protein diet coming from rich natural sources like lean meat's, fish and beans.
Not only will it improve the health of your hair and scalp it has added benefits for weight loss and toning up your muscles. Beans are one of my favorite’s protein sources and are packed with hair growing vitamins, give it a try and I'm sure you'll notice an improvement.
