When you detangle use a wide toothed comb with no rough seams. Put in a leave-in conditioner that provides a lot of slip to make the process easier. Only detangle small sections at a time. Start at the end of a section and careful work out the knots. Once the end of the section is knot free move your comb up and work a little higher. Do this until that section is knot free all the way up to the root. Always detangle slowly and carefully. Never detangle dry hair. Wet hair is more elastic and will break less when detangling.
