Leucorrhoea is a medical term that used to describe the discharge of whitish substance, from female genitals. The disease might continue for weeks or months. However, one needs to treat it properly in the initial stages only, lest it becomes chronic. Thick, viscid and foul smelling, the discharge is mainly experienced during puberty, when the sexual organs of a female are developing.

This white discharge is generally caused by the presence of infection in any of the vaginal tissues. In the following lines, we have provided more information on the various causes and symptoms of leucorrhoea.

Causes of Leucorrhoea

  1. Trichomonal vaginitis

  2. Monilial vaginitis

  3. Cervicitis

  4. Improper lifestyle

  5. Hormonal turbulence

  6. Unhygienic surroundings

  7. Improper eating habits

  8. Wounds produced by itching

  9. Infection

  10. Indigestion

  11. Constipation

  12. Anemia

Symptoms of Leucorrhoea

In addition to infection, some hormonal and metabolic disorders are also responsible for the condition.

Ayurveda considers that leucorrhoea is caused by the vitiation of kapha; it occurs commonly among weak, emaciated, and anaemic women. It can also be due to inflammation of the womb following childbirth, displacement of the uterus, or gonorrhoea. Among young females, it may be due to thread worms, as the result of general debility combined with lack of cleanliness or infections.

In addition to the whitish discharge from the vaginal tract, there is weakness. as well as pain in the lumbar region and the calves. A burning sensation may be present along with constipation. There appears to be a direct relationship of this disease with a nervous temperament. In a chronic form, leucorrhoea causes irritability. The patient develops black patches under the eyes. Late nights precipitate the attack.

Leucorrhoea in young girls

In young girls, leucorrhoea may occur during the few years before and after the start of the menstrual flow. It may be due to an irritation of the genital organs caused by various factors such as dirt, soiled under garments, intestinal worms and excessive mental stimulation of sex or masturbation. Some excess secretion is normal when the girl reaches puberty, due to overactivity in her sex glands and organs. This usually disappears within a short time. In your women, leucorrhoea may occur during ntermenstrual periods, due to thickening of the mucous membrane in the reproductive organs. Such a discharge is associated with painful menstruation and other menstrual disorders.

Diet

Fried and spicy food should totally be avoided. The patient should not be permitted to remain her stomach empty for a long time period. She should not receive heavy, indigestible food material. Sour items particularly pickle and curds are forbidden.
Eating of supari later than taking food is very helpful both for prevention and cure of this disease.

Treatment of Leucorrhoea by Nature Cure

The treatment of this disease should be started with fruit diet including papaya, sweet lime, orange, chiku, guava and pear may be taken twice or thrice a day.

A glass of lemon water may be taken in the morning. After the fruit diet, the meals consisting of whole wheat bread and green vegetables ought to be ongoing. Dalia and Moong dal may also be taken.

  1. Vagina should be washed every day with Neem water.

  2. Practice of enema is also essential for cleansing the stomach.

  3. Mudpack over abdomen, Hipbath every day in the morning and Sitz bath daily evening are its excellent treatment.

YOGA FOR LEUCORRHOEA

  1. Sarvang asan

  2. Pranayam

  3. Vajra asan

Home Remedies for Leucorrhoea

Home Remedies: A proper diagnosis of the disease must be made and the cause removed. In addition to the medicines prescribed below, a regular douching of the genital tract with a decoction of the bark of the banyan tree or the fig tree is very helpful. A tablespoonful each of the powders of the bark of the two trees should be boiled in alitre of water till it is reduced to about half. Douching with the lukewarm decoction keeps the vaginal tract healthy and clean.

A home remedy used for this condition is to soak about 10 gm of dry coriander or dhania in 100 ml of water overnight, and to drink the water in the early morning. It gives relief in . seven to ten days in most cases.
