Mahabaleshwar is a serene hill station situated in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. Located at the mouth of the river Krishna, it is known for its evergreen forests, beautiful landscape and great weather. Mahabaleshwar was the summer capital of the British when they ruled India and has quite a few Colonial style buildings including the "Babington House", a magnificent bungalow built in the shape of a cross. Panchgani, located not too far away from Mahabaleshwar is another charming hill station with famous laterite rock formations and Mapro Gardens, a lovely strawberry field.
