Tension Between "Jai Andhra" & "Jai Samaikya Andhra" In Vijawawada
Pro-United Andhra activists today disrupted a press conference organised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Executive Member K Haribabu at the party office here, in protest against the announcement of 'Jai Andhra' Movement by Party State Unit Chief Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday.
Raising slogans like 'Jai Samaikya Andhra' (unified Andhra Pradesh), the activists barged into the party office, manhandled a party worker and damaged few plastic chairs in the office.
The party leaders, aghast of the sudden development, drove the activists out of the party office. However, mild tension prevailed at the office as the BJP leaders and 'Samaikya Andhra' activists, headed by one T Padma, raised slogans against each other.
Later, talking to newspersons Samaikya Andhra leaders alleged that after the recent agitations for integrated state ended peacefully, the BJP was provoking the people once again on the 'Jai Andhra' Movement.
Police intervened and dispersed both the groups and brought situation under control.
Meanwhile, a large number of students belonging to Congress reached the party office and protested against the BJP's stand on the unified state.
