''There is a Danger To The Telangana Movement Being Hijacked By Terrorists'' : Chidambaram
India's Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram started the talks with the eight recognized parties of Andhra Pradesh. Before starting the talks in the North block of the Parliament, he gave a brief speech on the Telangana issue in front of the representatives of the eight parties.
He said that the UPA government recognizes the Telangana struggle as a valid one. He reminded that the movement is around 50 years old and said that the talks in New Delhi today is to assess the stand of various parties of the Telangana issue.
However in the same vein he cautioned that there are reports that the Telangana agitation is being hijacked by some "external forces" like terrorists and naxalites. he asked the Andhra Pradesh government to take a firm note of this.
He also claimed that his past two statements on the Telangana issue (on 9th Dec and 23rd Dec) were taken according to the then circumstances. He said that after his first statement on the Telangana (9th Dec) there were splits in all the parties whether Congress, TDP or the PRP. He said that in such circumstances he made the second statement on 23rd Dec. He said that there is no time frame on the formation of the Telangana state.
