JVC created the .TOD file format for video files, which used in some models of their video camcorders, like GZ-HD7, GZ-HD3, GZ-HD5，GZ-HD6，GZ-HD30, GZ-HD40.

A .tod file is a container for an MPEG file using MPEG-2 compression. Generally speaking, it can be played by renaming it as .mpg and you can open it provided it was an MPG file.
