Food poisoning, or acute gastroenteritis as it is also called, is a serious inflammation of the stomach lining and of the small bowel.
The worst attacks of acute gastroenteritis are caused by germs. Foods we usually eat at picnics, in restaurants or even at home can be contaminated by poisonous substances or toxins released by staphylococcus bacteria. Foods that can be contaminated very easy are fish, custards, meats, milk cream and all kinds of deserts.
Food poising starts all of a sudden with abdominal cramps and nausea followed by weakness, diarrhea, and vomiting. The rectal burning might be violent and stools might contain mucus or blood. Because of the liquid loss severe shock and dehydration may occur. Most of the time these attacks last only for a few hours and the patient can recover easy enough.
There are some natural treatments able to combat food poisoning. For example goldenseal root is known as an efficient remedy. It is a natural anti-biotic and a natural diuretic and it has the property to flush out the infection. You can take three capsules a day.
Sweet lemon juice is another good remedy. Four lemons are squeezed and mixed with sugar to be sweet. Drink this juice. To be efficient you must not add water. Pour a tablespoon of lemon juice or cider vinegar in a cup of hot water and drink it before meals. It has the property to enhance digestion and the secretion of enzymes. A cup of warm ginger tea after every meal has the same properties. 25 grams of undiluted vinegar can be very helpful, too.
Another efficient remedy consists in a mixture made from 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds, a teaspoon of edible gum and another of cardamom, a half a teaspoon of nutmeg powder and two teaspoons of sugar. All these ingredients are ground till they become powder. The mixture is taken at every two hours.

Take a teaspoon of this mixture two or three times. A half a tablespoon of dry ginger taken at four times a day is a very efficient remedy, too.
You can also drink some pomegranate juice or you can chew some pieces of pomegranate inner lining with some salt.
