Ulcerative Colitis - Triphala For Ulcerative Colitis

The disease usually begins in the rectum or the rectum and the sigmoid colon (the lower end of the large intestine) but may eventually spread along part or all of the large intestine. In patients with ulcerative colitis, ulcers and inflammation of the inner lining of the colon lead to symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding.

Like Cohn’s disease, another common IBD, ulcerative colitis can be painful and debilitating and sometimes can lead to life-threatening complications. Ulcerative colitis is a rare disease, with an incidence of about one person per 10,000 in North America. The disease tends to be more common in northern areas.

Ulcerative colitis can be caused due to many reasons. The exact causes are not known but still some are expected to be increasing the symptoms of the disease. According to some scientists a virus or bacterium may increase the disease as it leads to inflammation of digestive tract while fighting with the foreign microorganism or pathogen.

This disease may be hereditary also. It can occur in people of all the ages. It is generally seen in the people of ages between 15 and 30 years and sometimes in people between 50 and 70 years of age. It is found in both men and women.

While defending against the virus and bacteria the immune system is activated. This kind of activation leads to inflammation within the tissues. This continuous activation of the immune system causes the chronic inflammation and ulcers. This can also be genetically inherited.

The most common symptoms of ulcerative colitis are abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. Patients also may experience:

• Anemia • Fatigue • Weight loss • Loss of appetite • Rectal bleeding • Loss of body fluids and nutrients • Skin lesions • Joint pain • Growth failure (specifically in children)

Triphala for problem of Ulcerative colitis: -

Resrarches showed that Triphala or trifla had an anti cancerous consequence in vitro studies. This is motivating, as Triphala can revamp harm to the succession of nature's intelligence in the "gaps" in the dhatus or the tissues, in the workings of alteration from one tissue to other. In other contexts, if a type of dhatu or a tissue forgets its association to nature's intelligence, or is in some way spoiled, Triphala can mend that damage before it gets converted into a grave disease. This could have implications for hostility the growth of cancer or other aberrant cells.

Another research depicted that Triphala had a radio-protective outcome in mice exposed to gamma-radiation. It deferred the onset of mortality and abridged the symptoms of radiation sickness in one group appreciably more than the control group, which did not took Triphala or trifla.

An other experiment, the effect of the 3 fruits i.e. Amalaki, Haritaki and Bhibitaki used in Triphala on cholesterol-induced hyper-cholesterolaemia and atherosclerosis. Even though all 3 fruits used in the Triphala or trifla formulations were effective in reducing serum cholesterol and cholesterol of both the liver and aorta, Haritaki, one of the ingredients of Triphala showed the greatest prospects.
